Two-at-a-Time Toe-Up Socks, featuring the Fish Lips Kiss Heel.
Have you ever finished a pair of socks and realized that, even though you followed the same pattern for both socks, one turned out much tighter than the other? You can avoid this by knitting both socks at the same time! This two-session class will use the Turkish or Eastern cast-on and the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern to get you started knitting two socks from the toe up on the same circular needle!
You'll need to purchase a copy of the Fish Lips Kiss Heel pattern and bring it to class with you, along with your yarn and needles. Most socks are knit with fingering weight yarn and US1 needles, but you can use a heavier yarn and larger needle if you prefer (worsted weight yarn and US8 needles or sport weight with US3 needles). Your needle should be a 40" circular needle to have enough room to work two socks at the same time. Your yarn should either be divided into two balls or cakes, or wound into a center-pull ball so you can knit from the inside and the outside at the same time.
In the first session(Feb 11, 12-2), we'll go over the cast on, toe increases, and determining how long to knit the foot of the sock. We'll also talk about how to cast on two socks from the cuff down, so you can use this two-at-a-time technique to knit any sock pattern.
In the second session(Feb 25, 12-2), we'll tackle the Fish Lips Kiss Heel, and go over how to knit the leg and finish up the ribbing at the top of the sock.
